Handball League: DE Defenders beat Sokoto Rima 33-22
Abuja, May 18 , 2019 DE:Defenders of Nigeria Security Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) male handball team on Saturday in Abuja defeated Rima Strikers of Sokoto, 33-22, to advance in the ongoing 2019 Prudent Energy Handball Premier League.
News Agency of Nigeria reports that DE:Defenders led by 18-9 by the break before extending their win in the second half.
NAN reports that Rima Strikers of Sokoto on the other hand lost all their games while DE: Defenders earned their eight points.
Sunday Ajana, the coach of DE: Defenders of NSCDC said he was happy that his players won their game.
“We thank God Almighty for giving us victory to win the match and thank our Accountant for being supportive financially and materially.
“I praise the boys for the work well done, we need to work hard to win our remaining games,” he said.
On his part, Abubakar Sanusi, the Coach of Rima Strikers of Sokoto said his players played well although they lost their game.
“Until players come to competitions like this they will not know how good or bad they are. We need to work hard to win our remaining games.
“We have played five games and we didn’t we win any. We hope to win the next match against Kano Pillars on Tuesday,” he said.
NAN reports that 12 male and 10 female teams are participating in the first phase of the second edition of Prudent Energy Handball Premier League, being organised by the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN).
The competition being hosted at the Velodrome of the Abuja National Stadium holds until May 25.
