The Chairman of Ikorodu LGA of Lagos State, Mr Wasiu Adesina, has pledged even distribution of projects across all the seven wards in the council area.

Adesina made the promise on Thursday in Ikorodu at a stakeholders’ meeting on the council’s 2020 budget .

The chairman said that no part of the council area would be left behind in the delivery of projects and other democracy dividends.

Adesina said that his administration had touched many lives with a project or the other in all the wards and communities, promising that the local  government would do more.

He said that the inauguration and implementation of the Ikorodu mini transport system by his administration had eased movement across the council area.

Adesina said that many of the requests  by various communities had been addressed in the council’s 2019 budget.

He pledged to give attention to the remaining requests in the 2020 budget.

According to him, some  projects executed by the council in 2019 include rehabilitation and construction of roads, construction of drains and surfacing of 139-meter road at Molupa,

He said that his administration also renovated offices of councillors and that of the Secretary to the local government.

“Others include construction of blocks of classrooms, toilets, perimeter fencing, and libraries in schools.

“We also distributed exercise books to pupils, gave bursary awards to indigent students and distributed GCE ( General Certificate of Education) forms to students to  widen access to education in our local government area.

“Our administration also rehabilitated primary health care centres and equipped them. We also implemented many health programmes including sensitisation of residents to Lassa fever and monkey pox and screening for prostrate cancer.”

The council chairman said that his administration also organised empowerment schemes to support transporters through the distribution of buses, adding that it supported the financially indigent.

Adesina said that the stakeholders’ meeting was organised to discuss the desires and needs of the various communities in the council area to serve as the basis for planning its 2020 budget.

The council boss appealed to residents of the area to support his administration through prompt payment of levies to enable it to deliver on its responsibilities.

On security,  Adesina said the administration was planning a security trust fund to support and strengthen ” Onyabo “, a vigilance group in the council area.

He said that the council would also maintain collaboration with all security agencies to address insecurity, especially cult activities, which  had claimed lives in the area.

” I extend my warm greetings to the good people of Ikorodu Local Government Area, members of the All Progressives Congress on today’s stakeholders forum in preparation of year 2020 budget.

“The budget is geared toward achieving a clearer and better execution of our fiscal policies.

“This year’s budget will be tagged “Budget of Consolidation” which is geared toward making our communities better with all hands on deck,” the chairman said.

A community leader, Chief Kayode Olomo, hailed the chairman for his efforts to improve the lives of the residents.

He urged him to give security a priority attention in the 2020 budget proposal.

In his remarks, Mr Lukmon Shonibare, Chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC), Ikorodu Division, urged the council  to implement more road projects in 2020.

He also urged the council to get its own grader to facilitate execution of road projects.

Shonibare urged that projects executed by the council in communities should be handed over to the CDC for proper monitoring and maintenance.

Mr Lamidi Folorunsho, Chairman Wadesh Organisation, called on the council to provide an alternative dumpsite in Ita-Elewa, saying that the current one  could no longer  serve the needs of the residents.

A Youth Leader,Mr Idris Omotayo, urged the council to continue to support the youth through various empowerment programmes.
