INEC begins distribution of sensitive materials in Delta

Materials

The Independent National Electoral (INEC) in Delta on Thursday began the distribution of sensitive election materials to 23 of the 25 local government areas of the state.

Mr Bukola Ojeme, the Head of Department (HOD) Voter Education and Publicity, in the state, said in Asaba that the vehicles conveying the materials had been dispatched to the local government areas.

Ojeme explained that some of the materials that had yet to arrive the state as at Wednesday, had been received while the last batch would arrive later on Thursday or Friday morning.

“Between today and tomorrow some of the materials will have arrived in the various reception centres from where they will be dispatched on Saturday morning to the polling stations for the elections,’’ he said.

He disclosed that the commission, in consultation with the political party agents agreed that the distribution of the sensitive material for 22 local government areas should commence while awaiting the remaining ones for three local government areas.

According to him, the materials for the remaining three local government areas are already on their way to the state.

“The party agents are in the CBN waiting for the arrival of the remaining materials and as we speak the materials are en-route to the state.

“We believe by tomorrow latest, the materials will be in Asaba. Very comfortably, I can say that about 95 per cent of the materials for the state are here now.

“Once again, I appeal to Deltans to place value on their participation in the electoral process by ensuring that they troupe to the various polling units where they are registered to vote on Saturday,” he said. (NNN)
