Insecurity: Nasarawa govt. partners security agencies on border patrol

The Nasarawa State Government has reinstated its commitment to partner the security agencies to prevent criminal’s entry through the border communities.

Mr Bola Longe, Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, stated this while briefing newsmen after the expanded state security council meeting in Lafia on Thursday.

Longe said that given the increasing rate of insecurity in the state, the various security agencies had adopted new strategists to curtail the menace.

He explained that based on intelligence gathered, most of the criminal elements took advantage of the porous borders to enter and unleash mayhem on members of the public.

He noted that securing the border had become imperative in view of the security challenges in neighbouring states.

The commissioner also explained that the security agencies would closely work with the traditional rulers, religion leaders and other stakeholders to ensuring that the state was save for all irrespective of religion, tribe or political interest.

He, therefore, appealed to members of the public to support the security agents with relevant information in order to protect lives and property in the state.

Similarly, Alhaji Sidi-Bage Muhammed I, Emir of Lafia and Chairman of the State’s Council of Chiefs, said the traditional rulers would support the government to maintain law and order.

The Chairman of the traditional council said that the traditional institution needed more roles to help in assisting the government to tackle insecurity in the country.

He therefore called on all the traditional rulers in the state to fully corporate with the government and the security agencies to ensure the prevalence of peace in the society.
