Kabul to send 250 delegates to Taliban meeting in Doha

The meeting is set to take place between April 19 and April 21 and is considered by analysts as an important trust-building measure.

The list includes names of prominent Afghan politicians, former Jihadi leaders, civil society representatives as well as government officials.

At least 37 Afghan women, ranging from government representatives to civil and women’s rights activists will travel to Doha as part of the meeting, according to the list.

An earlier meeting between Afghan politicians and Taliban members was held in Moscow in February without representatives of the Afghan government.

This is the first time the militant group has indirectly accepted meeting officials of the government.

In a statement earlier, the Taliban declared they would consider any government official participating in Doha as a private person sharing a private opinion.

Apart from the intra-Afghan talks, the Taliban has met U.S. representatives six times since last summer in a bid to find a political solution for the nearly 18-years-long conflict.
