Kano Pillars beat Abia Warriors‎ 2-0 in week 9 league

Kano, Feb. 20, 2019 Kano Pillars Football Club on Wednesday defeated visiting Abia Warriors 2-0 in week 9 of the Nigeria Professional Football League match.

The match which was ‎played at the Sabon Gari stadium Kano was watched by a large number of spectators.

Hosts Kano Pillars secured victory through a 73rd-minute goal by its captain, Gambo Muhammad, and a 87th-minute goal by Rabiu Ali.

Muhammad headed a cross while Ali converted a penalty when the visitors’ defender brought down Muhammed in the box to set the tone for the victory.‎

Coach Ibrahim Musa of Pillars later told newsmen that his team played well, describing it as a good performance.

He said his players were up against a good team and thanked them for converting some of the chances.

Speaking on the team’s next away match against Ifeanyi Ubah, Musa said the team would be worked upon to give a better performance.

“We are going to do our best to take the maximum point. We will work on them in all departments,” he said.

Also, Henry Makinwa of Abia Wareiors, told NNN that his team lost to a good side.

‎He also appreciated the players for putting up a good performance in the match.‎

Makinwa who congratulated pillars for winning the match, also said that the team would go back and strategies ‎on how to win their next home game.
