Kano, Aug. 9, 2019 Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State on Friday said plans were underway to establish ‎Women College of Education (Technical) to re-engineer and prepare women for daily challenges of life. ‎

Ganduje made the disclosure when ‎the management of Kano State College of Education and Preliminary Studies community paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Kano.‎

He said that the school when established would further consolidate girl-child education and women empowerment.

“We want our women to compete with other women for them to develop excellently well. ‎We need them to be part and parcel of our development.

“We also want them to have  more spaces for them to contribute toward our growth and development as a state and the nation in general,” he said. ‎

The governor explained that the proposed college would form part of strategies for critically empowering women as critical partners in developing the society and human development in particular.

Ganduje also said that his belief in girl child education and his administration’s resolve to take women to the next level informed his decision to come up with the project for women in the state.‎

‎He stressed the significance of planning in education, saying that education without plan was planned to fail.

”That is why we always insist that our education system must always be planned for it to develop very well.”

He also promised to complete the construction of the College e-Library to further the quality of education among staff and students. ‎

Earlier , the Provost of the College, Dr Sunusi Yakubu, commended the governor on behalf of the College community for his stride in education sector.

Yakubu thanked the governor for all the interventions done to the College since the inception of his office in 2015 till date.

The provost ‎later presented an Award letter of intervention from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) which he collected recently from the Fund’s headquarters, Abuja, on behalf of the governor.
