Kebbi Govt boosts farming, creates job opportunities – AFAN



Alhaji Usman Zuru, the Chairman, All Farmers’ Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Kebbi State, says the state government’s frantic support to agriculture had boosted farming business and created job opportunities.

Zuru said this on Friday while addressing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

He said that the association was overwhelmed by the sterling policies of Gov. Atiku Bagudu in the area of agricultural development.

The chairman said: “The support had really motivated the farmers to enhance their farming business that has boosted their revenue base especially at the grassroots.

“This had also attracted more people into farming business which undoubtedly created huge job opportunities for the teaming unemployed in the state,” he said.

The chairman listed the modern rice mills in Argungu, Kamba and Jega in addition to other smaller mills in different towns among the achievement of Bagudu.

He also lauded the governor for establishing a tomato firm at Gafara in Ngaski Local Government Area of the state.

“It is highly imperative to appreciate the present administration for collaborating with investors and other agricultural processing firms towards boosting the sector.

“I want to use this medium to assure the governor that the association will do everything possible to support government’s strive to take Kebbi to next level of agricultural development.

“As members of AFAN, we will make sure that the resources are judiciously utilised by sticking to the laid down rules and regulations governing the support,” he said.

The AFAN chairman appealed to the people of the state to rally round the administration at all levels to enable them deliver the goods successfully.

He also tasked farmers and people of the state on genuine support for the  government through complementary roles.

Besides, Zuru advised farmers to engage in modern agribusiness, which is a money-making venture.

The chairman expressed optimism in the administration of Bagudu, assuring that he will not not disappoint farmers in the state.
