Kaduna State Environmental Protection Agency (KEPA) on Friday called on owners of fuel stations to obey environmental laws guiding their operations in the state.

He said that the agency had sealed two fuel stations at a residential area where report of leakage of underground tanks had caused pollution of water source in Malawa community in Zaria Local Government Area.

“God forbid, if an accident occurs in the filling station, it can be disastrous and may lead to colossal loss of lives and properties

“We will continue to seal any filling station in the state on environmental basis that pollutes the environment and poses danger to the lives of citizens of the state.”

“The agency is working with the Kaduna Geographical Information Service (KADGIS) to ensure that fuel stations are built where appropriate.”
