Minna, Feb. 21, 2018 A Sharia Court in Minna on Thursday arraigned a 25-year-old labourer, Yusuf Umar, for alleged cheating.
Umar is standing trial on a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating, contrary to sections 312 and 322 of the penal code.
The police Prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Danladi told the court that one Dayyabu Sadik of Tunga goro, Minna reported the matter at the Tudun Wada station on Jan. 21.
Danladi disclosed that Sadik alleged that he gave the accused person his Bajaj motorcycle, valued at N180,000 for commercial operations within Chanchaga only.
He noted that the accused person was said to have used the motorcycle in conveying passengers to locations outside of Chanchaga, where it was stolen.
When the charge were read to him, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, thereafter, prayed the court for adjournment to enable police complete its investigation into the matter.
In his ruling, the presiding judge, Mohammed Dogara, granted the accused person bail.
Dogara adjourned the matter until March 7 for further mention.
