The police on Tuesday docked two men and a teenager before an Ogudu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly attacking and stealing a phone valued at N7,000 from a man.
Those docked are: 21-year-old mechanic, Vincent Oboy; 21-year-old dancer, James John; and 18–year-old barber, Kayode Adeyemi; all residents of Bariga area of Lagos state.
They are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Donjor Perezi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on May 10 at Araromi Street, Ifako Motor Garage in Bariga.
He said the complainant; Babatunde Lawal , 31, reported the matter at the Ifako Police Station on the same day.
Perezi said that the complainant said that he was returning from the next street where he had gone to buy some goods when five boys wielding an object accosted him.
The prosecutor said that the defendants beat up the complainant and collected his phone valued at N7,000.
The prosecutor said that the complainant had to run after the defendants as well as raised alarm that attracted passers-by who caught three out of the defendants.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The magistrate, Mrs Bukola Mogaji, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N50,000 each with one surety each in like sum.
She d adjourned the case until May 27, for mention.
