Lawmaker wants youths to be agents of positive change

Alhaji Ibrahim Alkali, member representing Lafia North Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has called on Nigerian youths to be vanguards of change by contributing meaningfully to the nation’s development. Alkali stated this on Tuesday in Lafia during the inauguration of newly elected officials of Shabu Youth Movement, Nasarawa State. Alkali, who is the Deputy Chief Whip of the House, said that positive contribution by youths to national development would go a long way in improving the standard of living of Nigerians. He described youths as backbone and pillars of every society, hence the need for them to channel their energy towards nation’s building. The lawmaker, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, urged the newly elected officials to live above board while discharging their duties. “I want to use this medium to appeal to youths to always shun violence and other social vices in the interest of peace and for societal development. “I also urge you and other youths to channel your energy towards building the nation for development to thrive. “You should live above board and provide inclusive leadership while discharging your duties,” he said. Alkali solicited for support from all and sundry for youths and all leaders in the country to enable them succeed in the task ahead. He assured them of his support at all the times to enable them succeed in their activities. The lawmaker assured the people of his constituency of his continued determination to better their standard of living through peoples’ oriented projects. He enjoined the people to live in peace, respect constituted authorities and tolerate one another for development to thrive. The newly elected president of the association, Mr Mohammed Madaki promised to discharge his duties with the fear of God. He assured of his commitment to carry members of the association along while discharging his duties.
