Maiadua (Katsina State) May 9 2019 No fewer than 61,402 children have been immunised against polio in Maiadua Local Government Area in Katsina State during the just-concluded immunisation exercise.
Alhaji Danjuma Alhassan, the Council’s Director of Primary Health Care, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Maiadua on Thursday.
Alhassan said the council had taken delivery of 71,368 dosage of vaccines out of which 67,780 were fully used for children under five years, targeted for the exercise.
According to him, we have achieved 97 per cent coverage of the 10 existing wards in the area.
He said that 128 different teams were fully utilised, which led to the tremendous success recorded during the exercise.
Alhassan noted that the officials had not recorded a single case of vaccine rejection due to the commitment of members of the various teams engaged during the exercise.
He lauded the efforts of stakeholders on polio immunisation, for their doggedness and steadfastness, which led to the success of the exercise in the area.
He commended parents who brought their children to be immunised, especially during routine immunisation programmes.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Maiadua Local Council had in March 2019, immunised 63,605 children against polio with 94 per cent record of coverage.
