Man, 22, docked over alleged theft of vehicle spare parts

A 22-year-old man, Goodluck Mgborogwu, on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of 17 pieces of vehicle spare parts worth N140,000.

Mgborogwu, whose address was not provided, is being tried for stealing.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Samuel Mishozumu, told the court that the  defendant committed the offence on June 15, at No 5B, Acme Road, Ogba, Lagos.

Mishozumu alleged that Mgborogwu stole 17 pieces of shock absorber  belonging to Wande Company, in contravention of Section 287 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the section provides for three years’ imprisonment for stealing.

The Magistrate, Mr O.O. Akingbesote, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum, and adjourned the case until July 30.
