Man, 25, docked over alleged assault, breach of peace

A 25-year-old man, Adebayo Olusoji, was on Thursday docked before a Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for allegedly assaulting Kadiri Babatunde.

Olusoji, whose address is not provided, is facing a two-count charge of assault and breach of peace, to which they pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, ASP. Akpan Nkem, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Sept. 4 at 7.00p.m. at Morogbo area of Lagos.

Nkem said that the defendant unlawfully assaulted Babatunde by hitting his left eye with his fist and caused him harm.

“The defendant also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of public peace,” he added.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 244 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mr Lazarus Hotepo, granted the defendant bail of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Hotepo adjourned the case until Oct. 10 for mention.
