Man, 26, docked over alleged theft of cell phone in Osun

Osogbo, Feb. 18,2019 (NNN) The Police in Osun on Monday arraigned one Equela Nwabueze, in an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of Infinix Hot 6 cell phone.
Nwabueze, 26, is facing a two count-charge bothering on theft and breach of public peace.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb.14, at about 4:10 p.m. at Africa area of Osogbo.
Abiodun said the defendant stole the phone belonging to one Babalola Ajibola and conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace when he was caught, after being chased by the complainant.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 390(9) and 249 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him.
The Defence counsel, Mr Oladipupo Olatunbosun, prayed the Magistrate to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mrs Aishat Olayemi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N40, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Olayemi said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction with evidence of tax payments and three passport sized photographs attached with an affidavit of means.
The case was adjourned until Feb. 22 for mention. (NNN)
