Man, 29, docked over alleged kidnapping

Lagos, April 16, 2019 A 29-year-old man, Wisdom Gabriel, was on Tuesday brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly kidnapping one Samson Adebisi.

Gabriel, was brought before the court on charges bordering on kidnapping and demanding a ransom for kidnap.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Earlier the Prosecutor, Insp. Kehinde Omisakin told the court that the defendant had committed the offences on March 1, at about 5.20p.m., at Epe Bridge area of Lagos State.

Omisakin said that Gabriel had kidnapped Adebisi, 55, and had demanded the sum of N350, 000 to secure his release after being kept for four days in a hideout.

The alleged offences contravened Sections 2(I) and 3 of the Kidnapping Prohibition Laws of Lagos State, 2017.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Komolafe, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties each in like sum.

Komolafe has adjourned until May 23, for hearing.
