Man, 42, docked over alleged malicious damage

A 42-year-old man, Chuma Madu, was on Tuesday docked at a Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly damaging the boot and door of a Toyota Sienna Saloon Car.

Madu, whose address is unknown, is facing a count charge of malicious damage.

The defendant on arraignment, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The Prosecutor, ASP. Clement Okuoimose, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept. 7, at about 3 p.m. at Mosafejo Way, Aradagun, Badagry, Lagos.

Okuoimose alleged that the defendant damaged the boot and door of one Toyota Sienna Saloon Car with registration number KJA 616 CW with the intent to steal.

“The car belongs to the Complainant, Fatai Amuda.

“He was caught during the act and handed over to police for prosecution, ‘’ he said.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 339 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mr Lazarus Hotepo, after listening to the charge, granted the defendant bail of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Oct.10 for mention.
