) A Jos Upper Area Court  Two sitting in Kasuwan Nama on Wednesday sentenced one Auta Abdullahi, a 23-year-old man, to seven years imprisonment for causing grievous hurt and criminal conspiracy.

The Presiding Judge, Mr Lawal Suleiman, handed down the sentence after the convict pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of causing grievous hurt and criminal conspiracy.

Suleiman, however, gave the convict an option of N60, 000 fine and a compensation of N5000 to the complainant.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt, Ibrahim Gokwat, had told the court that the case was reported on October 12 by one Ishaq Muiazu, a vigilante member attached to Shagari Corner unit in Jos.

He said that the complainant reported that on the same date  Ahmed Abdullahi, Hijiru Musa and Auta Abdullahi ,who all reside at Shagari Corner, conspired and attached him.

Gokwat said Ahmed Abdullahi held him by the neck and dragged him to the ground and stabbed him on his face when he sustained injuries.

Gokwat said  the case contravened Sections 59, 241 and 220 of the Plateau Penal Code.

The Nigeria News Agency reports that the other two accused persons pleaded not guilty and they have been remanded in prison custody.
