Man docked for alleged theft of 3 cell phones
The police on Friday arraigned one Daniel Akumah, 29, in a Wuse Zone II Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing three cell phones belonging to three ladies.
The defendant who resides at 1st Avenue, Gwarimpa, Abuja, is standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on criminal trespass, theft and intimidation.
The prosecutor, Adeyemi Oyeyemi, said the complainants’, Mercy Olasupo, Rose Kanu and Zainab Ibrahim of Wuse Zone Three Abuja, reported the matter at the Wuse Zone 3 Police Station on Feb. 23.
They alleged that the defendant on that same date, allegedly trespassed into their apartment and stole three cell phones: Infinix Hot6, valued at N56,000; Nokia valued at N9,000 and Techno A7 valued at N35,000.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened the provisions of Section 348 288 and 397 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, denied committing any offences.
The magistrate, Mr Joshua Egbe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 and one surety in like sum and adjourned further hearing until April 4.(NNN)
