Ile-Ife (Osun),  April 23, 2019   An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Tuesday, sentenced one Olalere Ayomide, 20, to three days community service for stealing cell phone.

Magistrate Habibat Basiru sentenced Ayomide after he pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing.

Basiru said that she considered the convict as a  young citizen that could still be useful to his community.

Basiru stated further that since the convict had pleaded guilty and the phone was recovered from him, sending him to prison would not help him.

She urged the convict change his behaviour.

Basiru ordered the prison warders to keep the convict in their custody for three days and bring him to court from 9 am to 2 pm daily for his community service.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant  committed the offence on April 17 at 08:45a.m. at Ife City Area, Ile-Ife.

Osanyintuyi said the defendant had in his possession one Techno W4 handset valued at N30,000 which he could not give proper account for.

He said the offence contravened Section 430 of the Criminal  Law of Osun, 2002.
