Medical Council convicts doctor for negligence, investigates nine others

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) on Monday resumed the trial of 14 medical doctors charged with professional misconduct.

In its first case, the MDCN Tribunal convicted one doctor, Godwin Maduakor, of Delta State, Asaba Medical Centre for gross negligence.

According to the tribunal, Maduakor was guilty of the count charges brought against him and is, therefore, suspended.

Chairman of the tribunal, Prof. Abba Hassan who read the judgment, said that Maduakor was suspended for six months.

Maduakor is one of the nine medical doctors who are standing trial for alleged professional misconduct from the hospital.

Other doctors still standing trial from the Asaba Medical Centre are; Sunday Abiodun, Ogafe Ojenuwah, Oyefara Babatunde, Okoye Pascal Nnamdi, Anunobi Chijioke Ralu.

Also are, Adigba Ese Onodjohwoyovwe, Ogwu Robinson Onyekachukwu, Okoye Chukwuka and Iyiola Akeem Adewale.
