Minister calls for patronage of FCTA hospitals

Abuja, Feb. 21, 2019 The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Bello, has advised Nigerians seeking medical treatment overseas to first patronise FCTA hospitals before embarking on such trips.
Bello gave the advice when he visited the Secretary, Health and Human Services Secretariat (HHSS), Malam Adamu Bappah, who had a surgical operation at the Wuse District Hospital on Thursday in Abuja.
The minister also visited the Accident and Emergency Unit (A&E) Unit and other departments where he expressed satisfaction with their level of cleanliness and prompt attention given to patients.
He described the equipment provided in the hospital as world class and can be compared to those in other climes.
“Our hospitals are equipped with state of the art facilities. I commend the management of Wuse facility for their professionalism and maintaining high ethical standards in our health sector,’’ he said.
The minister directed Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS) and FCTA Lands Department to confirm the status of the piece of land with a view to giving the hospital approval for its expansion project.
On the expansion the hospital, he observed that a high risen structure could be erected over the parking lot to provide additional wards in the hospital.
Bello therefore commended the team of doctors who operated upon Bappah and prayed to God Almighty to grant the scribe full recovery.
Earlier, the Medical Director of Wuse District Hospital, Dr Sa’ad Idris, thanked the minister for the surprise visit.
Idris also commended the minister for his encouragement and the confidence in their ability to deliver at all times.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Bappah was admitted into the hospital on Monday evening (Feb. 18) and operated upon after diagnosis for an undisclosed ailment where he is presently recuperating.
