The Minister of State for Budget and National planning, Prince Clem Agba has urged staff of Centre for Management Development (CMD) to come up with more creative ideas to generate more revenue.

Agba made the call during his visit to the Centre on Thursday in Abuja.

“I think we can improve the centre and not necessarily how we can spend, but how to bring revenue to be able to spend.

“We must understand we have one pot everybody is taking from. Some are making contributions into the pot and we look at those contributing, if given more they will be able to do more rather than those who only consume.

“If given to those who only consume, the pot would be depleted and the resources available to share with others will be limited.’’

Commenting on the 2020 budget, Agba said that it was submitted early and it would help return the circle back to January to December.

He said for the first time since 1999, this year had the earliest budget submission.

According to Agba, the budget has two sides, the expenditure and revenue, if we work to increase the revenue we will have better performance in terms of expenditure.

Agba said the ministry was working on envelop system on areas of priority that would drive growth, create employment and reduce poverty in the country.

“We made additional provision in the budget to meet some of the CMD needs.’’

He said that the ministry would work on their capacity development as well as encourage members staff to create ideas on how to improve the country.

The Acting Director-General of CMD, Mr Bitrus Chinoko commended the minister for his support.

Chinoko said that the centre had budgeted for 2020, adding that it would address some of the needs of the centre.

Earlier, some staff commended the minister as well as listed some challenges the centre was faced with.

According to him, they include office accommodation, staff bus, staff quarters, space to run training programmes, training of staff among others.
