Monarch urges Muslim associations, ethnic groups to promote peace



Dr Aruba Agwadu-Audu, Zhi Migili of Migili in Nasarawa state, has urged Muslim associations and ethnic groups to promote peaceful coexistence in his domain.

Agwadu-Audu made the call on Monday when members of the Migili Muslim Association paid him a courtesy visit in in Agyaragu, Jenkwe Development Area of the state.

He urged the association and other ethnic groups to continue to live in peace and be their brother’s keepers for the development of the state and the country.

The monarch underscored the importance of peace to national development, saying that no society can exist in an atmosphere of rancour.

“I want to commend you for the visit and to assure you of my support to enable you succeed.

“I also want to call on you to continue to preach the message of peace to our brothers and sisters and other Nigerians considering the importance of peace to national development.

“Peace is priceless and non-negotiable and it is the necessary requirement for the development of any society,” he said.

Agwadu-Audu also advised the association to desist from anything capable of breaching the peace existing between its members and other tribes.

He urged his subjects and others Nigerians to be law-abiding, respect constituted authorities and tolerate one other at all times.

The monarch restated his continued commitment to preaching peace to his subjects and other Nigerians so that the country would have rapid development.

Earlier, Chairman of Migili Muslim Association, Mr Ja’afaru Mohammed, said that they were at the monarch’s palace to pay him a traditional homage.

He commended the traditional ruler for promoting peaceful co-existence between his people and other tribes in the state.
