Lafia, Jan. 8, 2019 (NNN) Justice Suleiman Dikko, Chief Judge (CJ), of Nasarawa State, has promised to investigate why some awaiting trial inmates in Lafia Prisons have not been taken to court since 2015.
The CJ made the promise at the commencement of his tour of Prisons formation on Tuesday, in Lafia.
“I am surprised that there are awaiting trials inmates in the state who have not been taken to court since 2015.
“We have assigned court dates to all of them but I cannot figure out why they should be in prison without going to court for this long.
“We will get to the root of the matter and proffer a lasting solution to it immediately,” the CJ added.
NNN further reports that the CJ also discharged other 11 inmates and advised them to be of good conduct and desist from actions that could hurl them back to prison. (NNN)
