Nasarawa grassroots sports: Ezhiba defeat Alashe in competition organised by NAN Correspondent

Ezhiba Super Stars have defeated Alashe FC 3-1 in a Unity Football Competition, organised by Mr Awayi Kuje, a Senior Correspondent with the Nigeria News Agency .

NAN reports that Kuje organised the competition among the eight clans of Wakama community in Nassarawa-Eggon Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa State.

The first goal of the match was scored by Kuje Nangba of Ezhiba Super Stars six minutes into the first half of the game to give them advantage over their opponent.

The second goal, which was a penalty awarded 27 minutes into the first half, was converted into a goal by Monday Bawa, while the third goal was scored by Abimiku Ebele 27 minutes into the second half of the game.

Friday Umbugadu of Alashe FC however scored one consolation goal for his club to make the game 3-1 in favour of Ezhiba Super Stars which won the first game of the competition.

Speaking with newsmen during the post-match briefing, coaches of the two teams expressed gratitude to the organiser of the competition and the officials for sticking to the rules and regulations in order to avoid counter- productive result.

Agbanshem Monday, coach of Ezhiba Super Stars, said the victory of his team was well-deserved “because they worked hard for it.”

He promised that his team would sustain the tempo, saying they were aiming at becoming the overall winners of the competition.

On his part, Jatau Ally, Coach of Alashe FC, admitted that his team lost to a better side.

He, however, said that they would put the defeat behind them and begin preparation to win the remaining matches.

Meanwhile, Dominic Bako, Chairman of the competition, while speaking during the flag-off of the competition, commended the organiser for contributing to peace and unity process in his community.

Bako, who was represented by Monday Nanza, donated N100,000 to support the organiser in the prizes to be given to the teams that would emerge first, second and third in the competition.

NAN reports that the competition has eight teams from the eight clans of Wakama.
