NCWS charges governments on policies to propel nation’s development

The National Council of Women Society (NCWS), has called on governments at all levels to make achievable, policies that would propel the nation’s growth and development.

The NCWS President, Mrs. Gloria Shoda, made the call in a message made available to the Nigeria News Agency , on Monday in Abuja.

Shoda stressed the need for more development, in spite of some laudable achievements in some areas.

“We call on governments at all level to make achievable policies that will put Nigeria in the comity of developed and prosperous nations.

”We are not yet there. We need to improve on all sectors of the economy and ensure that things are functioning well and that women are properly taken into consideration

”We have very daunting challenges ahead which require sacrifices in nation building, commitment and selflessness, which have somehow eluded us.

“We need to restore infrastructure, create jobs and provide ways and means for creating wealth for the citizenry.”

She particularly emphasised the need to improve the security of the nation so as to free Nigerians from kidnappers, robbers, killers and corrupt elements.

“Kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry, money laundering, internet fraud, various forms of scams must be vigorously fought.

“We must have timeline for stopping these scourges,” she said.

Shoda lamented that women were usually worst hit where there was strife, insecurity and other vices, urging the government and the people to bring an end to the vices.
