NGO seeks collaboration with NAN as it trains 40 youths on trade, craft

Bauchi state chapter of Arewa Youth Development (AYD), a Non-Governmental Organisation has embarked on training of 40 youth in the states in 10 various trades.

The Chairman of the of the chapter, Mr Mohammed Abdullahi, stated this on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the Nigeria News Agency , Bauchi Zonal Office.

He said that the exercise was part of their contribution in checking youth restiveness through the creation of skills that would enable self-reliance.

He said beneficiaries were drawn from the nooks and crannies of the state, irrespective of their educational background.

“We have embarked on training of 40 youth in 10 different trades for them to become empowered in areas of welding, plumbing, fish-farming, poultry and carpentry,among others.

“After the training, stipend will be given to beneficiaries to enable them start their businesses.

“The NGO is also enlightening youth on the dangers of drug abuse and other social vices,’’ he said.

Furthermore, Abdullahi said that the AYD was partnering with National Directorate of Employment and Industrial Training Fund, to train youth in various skills.

The chairman said that AYD was an organisation aimed at repositioning the mindset of youth via trainings, empowerment and education to enable them harness their hidden talents.

He said their visit to NAN was to seek for the assistance of the Agency  in publicizing their activities.

In his remark, the Zonal Manager, NAN, Bauchi, Mr Abdullahi Salihu, advised the  members of the organisation to concentrate on marketable trades.

He said by so doing, beneficiaries would have markets for their finished goods in the near future.

Salihu called on the organisation to keep NAN abreast of their activities for continuous reportage.

While commending the training initiative, Salihu urged the organisation to not to relent in its effort at enlightening youth as leaders of tomorrow.
