Ikeazor vows to eliminate ghost pensioners from Nup

BENIN — EXECUTIVE Secretary/Director–General, Pensioner Transitional Arrangement Directorate, Mrs. Sharon Ikeazor, has assured Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, that with the computerization of pension information, issuance of identity cards and BVN biometrics as well as the Federal Government’s verification exercise, everything was being done to eliminate ghost pensioners.

This was contained in a communiqué by her and Mr. Michael Ehinyameh (chairman) and Prince Sanamu Momodu (General Secretary) for NUP, University of Benin branch at a meeting she had with members of the union

Mrs. Ikeazor also promised that the issue of 33 percent pension arrears will be settled as soon as possible as the issue was already before her, adding that the issue of 32 percent monetization arrears had not been brought to her attention.

She said that the Federal Government recognised NUP, adding that check-off dues and other deductions will be paid into the Accounts of Nigeria Union of Pensioners, University of Benin branch, henceforth.

On the issue of payment of salary, Mrs. Ikeazor said that the Minister of Finance as a woman has sympathy for pensioners, adding that, “It is our right to be paid our pensions on time.”
