Players of Rising Stars FC of Akure on Thursday expressed their readiness to win the week four encounter of the Nationwide League One against city rivals, Akure City FC.
It would be recalled that Rising Stars, had lost its week three match 2-0 away to OSOPADEC FC in Okitipupa, and would play Akure City on Friday.
Oloruntoba Ayodeji, skipper of the team told the News Agency of Nigeria in Akure, that the team had placed the defeat behind them.
Ayodeji said that the coaching crew were putting in more efforts to ensure that the team’s performance improved.
Monday Omohera, a Rising Stars midfielder, said the the players were in high spirit ahead of the encounter.
Omohera said the team needed to step up its game and bounce back from the recent away defeat.
Adebayo Adefeyinju , another Rising Stars striker, also said he would try and score if given a chance in the starting line up.
Adefeyinju said the players had promised to deliver and pick maximum three points in the week four match to compensate for their lost.
“We have promised the management of the team that we will improve and pick maximum three points, so we don’t have a choice than go all out in the encounter,” he said.
