The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has deployed 1,500 personnel to combat criminal activities with a view to enhancing a hitch-free Eid-el- Kabir celebration in the state.

This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen by the command on Saturday in Akure.

The statement, which was signed by state Commandant, Mrs Christiana Abiakam- Omanu, said that the command would leave no stone unturned to ensure a violence-free Eid-el-Kabir.

Abiakam- Omanu said that the command would go the extra mile to carry out surveillance and intelligence gathering, and to arrest and prosecute whosoever was found culpable of any criminal offence during and after the celebration.

According to her, for effective service delivery of the command’s mandate of protection of lives and properties, both operational vehicles and men will be on constant patrol to ensure a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

She said the command would continue to synergise and collaborate with other security agencies to make the state serene and habitable

The commandant charged  all officers and men of the command to double their efforts in the areas of safeguarding all critical national assets and infrastructure,  crime detection, intelligence and information gathering, especially during the celebration.

“All security apparatus must be proactive and gather intelligence to nip in the bud any perpetrator of criminal activities such as vandalism of government critical national assets, oil theft, kidnapping and community unrest, among others.

“We are beckoning on respective stakeholders and the general public to make it a point of duty to give prompt and useful information on individuals who are in the habit of disrupting the peace and security of the state,” she said.

The  commandant also enjoined all parents and guardians to restrain their wards from aimless wandering, intoxication, drug abuse and other traits that could trigger social unrest, restiveness and indulgence in criminal tendencies.
