NSHIP trains pharmacists on drugs management in Nasarawa



Nigeria State Health Investment Project (NSHIP)

trained 35 pharmacists on essential drugs management for quality healthcare service delivery in Nasarawa State,

Mr Adamu Ohagayen, the state NSHIP Coordinator, said.

He made this known on Monday at the commencement of a three-day workshop for pharmacists on essential drugs

management in Akwanga, Nasarawa State.

He said that the importance of pharmacy to the health and socio-economic development of the society cannot be overemphasised,

hence the training.

Ohagayen also said that the workshop was aimed at keeping essential drug managers up-to-speed in handling and dispensing drugs.

He added that “this workshop is to train pharmacists on procedure for procurement of drugs for quality healthcare service delivery.

“The training is necessary because pharmacists play important roles in ensuring effective healthcare service delivery.

“This will go a long way in improving the health status of the people of the state and Nigeria at large.”

The coordinator urged pharmacists to adhere strictly to their professional ethics in the interest of the health sector and for the overall development of the country.

He reiterated the organisation’s continued commitment to train health workers in the state.

The NSHIP Focal Person on Essential Drugs Management, Mr philip Danjuma, also urged pharmacists attending the training to adhere to best practices

while handling drugs.

Mr Reren Ahmadu, a pharmacist with Medical Centre, Karu, Nasarawa State, commended NSHIP for organising the training.

He said it would help participants to learn best practices in drug management, thereby improving health status of the people of the state.

Nigeria News Agency reports that the training drew participants from the state’s general hospitals, state’s Ministry of Health,

state’s Health Management Board, among others.
