Ondo Govt. assures Apoi community of more developments




Oboro (Ondo State),May 18,2019 The Ondo State Government has promised  to provide more developmental projects to the people of Apoi land in Ese-Odo Local Government area and the state in general.

Gov. Oluwaromtimi Akeredolu said this on Saturday in Oboro during the coronation  of Kalasuwe of Apoi Land, Oba Adejimola Amuseghan.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Apoi Land had been without a paramount ruler for 12 years before the monarch was crowned last year.

Akeredolu, who was represented by Deputy  Gov. Agboola Ajayi, said government had renovated all the  primary schools in the local government area.

Akeredolu said his administration had also  renovated the general hospital in Igbekebo to a  standard  hospital level, and also equipped it with standard equipment as well as employed over 67 medical staff to work there.

He added that the  road networks in the town had been tarred to improve road links in the area.

He urged the monarch to continue to foster unity among the 10 communities constituting  the land, as  he had done in the last one year.

Earlier, the traditional ruler,Oba Adejimola Amuseghan who commended the government for the unflinching support for the region, thanked God for the journey so far,since he ascended the throne of his forefathers.

The monarch  also thanked other  monarchs in Apoi Land for being resolute in the preservation of the Apoi Culture.

“Although 12 years is a long time for a community to be without a mornach, I will try my best to cover lost grounds in terms of attracting development to our dear land,” the monarch said.

He added that the planned skill acquisition centre for the community, when completed, would develop the youth of the town.

Earlier, chairman of the Coronation Planning Committee, Col. Orire Nikoro, said the people of Apoi were proud of the king,for fostering unity among them.

Nikoro said the monarch had achieved a lot within the one year of his coronation, especially, in the area of education.

Mr Ojo Omolewa, the Chairman of Ese-Odo Local Government, hailed the monarch for his positive impact on the communities in the area.

Omolewa reiterated government’s resolve to ensure that area would continue to witness developmental projects.

Also, Dr Jimny Kuffour, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the deputy governor, who  bagged  the chieftaincy title of ‘Ajiroba of Apoi Land’, eulogised the monarch for attracting development to the town.

Highlight of the occassion was the conferment of the chieftaincy title of Asiwaju Oluomo of Apoi Land on the  Dep. Gov. Agboola Ajayi

Donations were also made by dignitaries toward the establishment  of a  skill acquisition centre for the community.
