Muregi Associates, an NGO, says it is training 35 Deputy Commandant Corps, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the area of effective strategic management to enhance service delivery.

Dr Hussaini Mohammed, the Managing Director of the Associates disclosed this in an interview with newsmen at the ongoing two days training workshop on Thursday in Abuja.

Mohammed said that the aim of the training was to build the capacity of NSCDC staff in the areas of strategic thinking, leadership and enterprise risk management among others.

He said that security challenges was not all about money or buying equipment, but creating awareness, saying that training like this would help to minimise the security challenges in the country.

According to him, the NGO is over nine years old in the business of capacity building and financial advisory.

“When there is effective strategic management, work will be done with efficiency, humility and integrity; and it will also bring credibility into the concept of security.

“It will equally help officers to develop structures and training strategies that will contribute to the national security using modern technology,” he said.

Mohammed, therefore, encouraged the participants to ensure that they disseminated the training and experiences gathered to their colleagues, saying “knowledge that is not shared is useless,” he said.

He said that security challenges was not about money or buying equipment, but creating awareness, saying that training like this would help to minimise the security challenges in the country.

Mr Abdullahi Muhammed, Commandant General, NSCDC, commended the associates for organising such training in the Corps and advised the participants to cooperate with the organiser so as to be well informed.

Represented by Mr Madu Kelechi, Deputy Commandant General, Operations, Muhammed said that the participants were carefully selected from the Headquarters to undergo the training.

He said that similar training was also given to NSCDC coordinators across the 36  states including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to him, the programme is all about continuous learning, monitoring, analysis and assessment of all that is necessary for an organisation to meet up its mandate.

“It’s not the number of men that matters but having the right persons in the right places, where they could effectively function well and produce the expected results.

“It is all about what it takes as a good manager in putting all your men to different key areas to ensure that they are deployed accordingly,” he said.

Muhammed said that the participants are expected to organise same training to others in their various departments.
