PDM leadership tussle: Court adjourns sitting until May 2

Abuja, March 12, 2019 An FCT High Court in Jabi, adjourned hearing until May 2, in the leadership tussled suit rocking the People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) party.

The adjournment followed an application for an extension of time filed before Justice Charles Agbaza by the defendants in the suit.

The defendants had equally filed the application in order to enable them file a formal appearance on the suit.

The defendants in this suit are: Mr Bashir Ibrahim, a former chairman of PDM, Ifeanyi Igwe, a member of the party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)

The originating summon of the suit was filed before the court in December 2018 by Mr Frank Igwebuike and other members of the party.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the court on Feb. 11, gave an order restraining Mr Bashir Ibrahim to stop parading himself as the National Chairman of the party.

The court had given the order following an interlocutory injunction brought by the plaintiffs in the suit, and subsequently directed INEC to recognise Igwebuike as the chairman of the party pending the hearing and determination of the suit.
