Peace, panacea to Nigeria’s multifaceted problems – Oyo Peace Corps

The Oyo State Commandant of Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN), Lukman Yekini, says there is the urgent need for Nigerians to embrace peace as the only solution to the multifaceted problems confronting the country.

Yekini made this assertion during a peace rally held by the Corps on Sunday in Ibadan.

The commandant said that the rally was held to call public attention to the importance of peaceful coexistence among Nigerians to end insecurity in the country.

He said that the Corps had been saddled with the responsibility of re-orientating the youths, especially students, against all forms of social vices.

Yekini observed that social vices such as drug abuse, cultism and examination malpractices, among others, were rampant among the youth.

He said that the cardinal focus and mandate of the Corps was to clean up the minds of the youth to make them good leaders of tomorrow.

“If the youth of today are not properly tutored and directed to be true leaders, our society will pay for it, and that is what Peace Corps is all about.

“We want peace to be in our heart, home, states and everywhere; without peace, there will be no meaningful development in Nigeria while good policies of government will be very difficult to implement.

“We are advocating peace for all in the country; let everybody put hands together to achieve peace and make Nigeria great,” he said.
