A 20 year-old carpenter, Oluwaseun Egbodofo, on Tuesday, appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ondo State for allegedly stealing an Infinix Hot 5 phone valued N38,000.
The defendant, whose address was not disclosed, is facing trial on one-count charge of stealing.
Egbodofo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecuting counsel, Insp Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that the defendant on June 15, around 10 a.m. at UBA Bank Okitipupa, Okitipupa magisterial district, stole the phone belonging to one Babatunde Ekundayo.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Dickson Ogunfuyi, admitted the defendant to a N50,000 bail and a surety in like sum with evidence of one year tax clearance paid to the state government.
He adjourned the case until Sept. 30 for further hearing.
