Police arraign man, 34, for allegedly stealing N1.5m proceeds of recharge sales

Asaba, Feb. 20, 2019 A 34-years-old man, Mr Okafor Chukwuebuka, on Wednesday appeared in an Asaba Magistrates’ Court for stealing of N 1.5 million, proceeds of recharge cards sales.

The police charged Chukwuebuka, a sales man of Diegohenroo Investment Limited with stealing.

The prosecutor, Mrs Ndidi Ahamefuna, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 30,  2018 at Federal College Junction, Asaba.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 390(8) of the Criminal Code Cap C21 Vol 1,Laws of Delta state of Nigeria 2006

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate Edith Anumodu, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Anumodu ordered that the sureties must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and also own landed properties.

The magistrate also ordered that the sureties must provide evidence of employment and two passport photographs.

Anumodu also said that one of the sureties must be relative of the defendant.

She adjourned the case until Feb. 26, for  hearing.
