The commissioner said that eight persons were arrested for alleged involvement in cultism, while four of them were arrested in connection with their suspected involvement in robbery.
“Three of them are suspected kidnappers, while another five persons were arrested over alleged cattle theft,” he said.
He said that a robbery suspect was fatally wounded during a gun battle between the police and a criminal gang.
The CP added that the injured suspect was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.
“During the period, the command rescued one kidnap victim, and recovered three vehicles, ten cows, 55 live ammunitions, 82 live cartridges, and five magazines.
“It also recovered three pump action rifles, some chemical substances, different brands of mobile phones, charms, two Ak47 riffles, and rolls of armoured cable,” he said.
Belel told reporters that the command had evolved new strategies aimed at making the state uncomfortable for criminals.
He urged residents of the state to be security conscious and to support the command with the kind of information that would help the police fight crime in the state effectively.
