Kano, March 14,2019 A Kano-based Non-governmental Organisation (NGO), the United Front for the Development of Democracy (UFDD) has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its neutrality and professionalism conducting the just-concluded general elections in the country.
UFDD is a youth group making efforts at developing of democracy in Nigeria.
”In spite of the late arrival of election materials in some areas, INEC has performed credibly well and they maintained professionalism,” he said.
UFDD also condemned the violence that led to reported killings in some parts of the country during the elections.
It, however, commended security agencies in Kano for their commitment at ensuring credible and transparent elections.
It urged the security personnel never to lose focus but remain resolute in safeguarding lives and property even after the elections.
The NGO called on the electorate to shun and resist attempts and temptation to sell their votes to politicians during the March 23 supplementary election in the state.
It called on the two governorship candidates contesting in the rerun election to respect the peace accord they signed.
It commended the efforts of the Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, for his role in maintaining peace and stability in the state.
