The department on Thursday helped to put out a raging fire that broke out at Close 20, Satellite Town, Lagos.

According to the department, the fire service unit of the Nigerian Navy Ship WEY, Ojo, received a distress call from a resident of Close 40, House 12 in Satellite Town, Lagos concerning the incident.

“The Nigerian Navy Firefighting Team swiftly mobilised and responded to the emergency call and effectively put out the fire,’’ it said in a statement.

“The fire, which started around 2.30 p.m. was suspected to have been caused by by a faulty electrical breach from one of the apartments.

“The firefighters tackled it head-on, thereby preventing loss of lives and properties.
