Adewale Alao, the General Manager (GM) of Purple Krown Academy of Uwani, has said that his club would be crowned the champions of the 2019 Enugu State League.

Purple Krown defeated Miserere FC of Agbani 2-0 on Thursday to reach the final.

Alao, who expressed the hope while speaking with News Agency of Nigeria in Enugu on Friday, said that his club would do everything possible to lift the trophy on June 22.

“Now that we are in the final of the state league, the players have no other option than to win it ahead of their rivals Inter FC of Iva Valley.

“We have been at the final twice and we know what it takes to win the league.

“Although Inter is a good club and we are on the same page with them, but I believe that we are going to lift the trophy on that day.

“I am expecting an interesting match in the final because we know each other well but we are in form than them,” he said.

He acknowledged that Inter was the state league runners-up in 2018 but noted that it could not get involved owing to their Nigeria National Division Two league participation.

“We cannot continue in the league because of fund and lack of encouragement, that is why we returned to the state league this year,” he said.

Alao said that the two finalist respect each other as both have what it takes to win the state league.

On converting chances, Alao confirmed that such has been the problem of the club from the beginning of the league.

“We are going to work on converting our chances before the final. Though, we lost some of the our strikers and the remaining ones have not played together for some time, they are trying to understand themselves better.

“It may interest you to know that we have been in the final twice and we won both so these is the third time.

“It will be an honour if we lift it the trophy for the third time to maintain 100 percent of final appearance winning,” Alao said.
