Remo Stars Sports Club (RSSC) has commenced the process of affiliating with grassroots football academies across the country in a bid to strengthen its youth development system.

The Media Manager of the club, Mr Oladimeji Oshode, said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday in Abeokuta.

RSSC, in the statement, said its clubside had decided to link up with other grassroots outfits from the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria.

The statement recalled that the youth system started  in 2016 with a pan Nigeria youth tournament hosted by Remo Stars Football Club at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode.

“Many from that event have found themselves outside the shores of the country with CD Feirense in Portugal, FC Lori in Armenia, Fremad Amager in Denmark and the likes,” it quoted Oshode as saying.

The statement also quoted the club’s Secretary, Michael Onikute, as saying that the affiliation would help promote the young players into full fledged professionals in future.

The club, he said, was looking forward to getting affiliation with 20 grassroots academies across the country.

“We actually believe that is the best way to take the youth out of the street at the early stage of their career and help them plan a better future for themselves and their families; even for the country as a whole.

“The academy will train them and also assist them plan their future. That is why we are looking at receiving entries from different grassroots academies from today to Aug. 19 and we want all entries to be sent to remostarsyouthdevelopment@gmail.com,” Onikute said.
