Residents of Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA commend Nigeria Navy, Pakistan Navy medical collaboration

Some  of the residents of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area of Lagos State  on Saturday commended the Pakistani Navy  and the Nigerian Navy (NN) for  providing them medical treatments.

They told the Nigeria News Agency that they were happy with the gesture, adding that they were impressed with the quality of  medication given to them by the medical team,

They said that  they would make do with the drugs for a while.

They said that the humanitarian gesture simply showed that there was  love between both countries.

Dr Yaya Adeshina-Ojora, the Baale of Apapa Alayabiagaba town, said that the Nigeria Navy had been reaching out to the community for a while.

He said that it was overwhelming seeing foreign medical personnel in his community.

“I am very happy seeing the Pakistani Navy medical team and the NN medical team collaborating to provide medical facilities for the residents of my community.

“This service to humanity is part of God’s teaching that we should always  love ourselves and assist one another.

“This humanitarian assistance shows that there is love between both countries. On behalf of my people, we appreciate this gesture.

“The NN had been doing such before now as they had organised one  this year.

“Seeing another country doing this means that the navies all over the world have the same plan for their people, we really appreciate it, ” he said.

Mrs Nourat Abdulraham, a beneficiary of the outreach,  said that she was grateful to both navies for the gesture, saying that she would not forget it in a hurry.

“God bless both navies for remembering us, the Nigeria Navy has been trying but seeing foreigners on this mission is commendable,” she said.

Cdr. Ahmadu Mohammed, the Command Medical Officer, Western Naval Command,  said that he was impressed with the turnout.

The surgeon said that for every Pakistani medical personnel, a  Nigerian personnel was attached  to cross-check every medication administered  to the residents and also to act as intermediary if needed.

“The cooperation between both navies in the medical outreach has been nice, they are here with their doctors and we have paired them with our doctors.

“We have our pharmacists that are cross-checking every medication that they are administering and ensuring that they meet the requirements of what is necessary, what is safe for Nigerians.

“If there is anything our doctors feel is not in conformity with what our practice is, they immediately correct it. The turnout is very impressive,” he said.

Also,  Lt.Cdr. Farukh Mir-Mohamed incharge of the Pakistani Navy medical team said that they were happy serving humanity, adding  that they were in Nigeria with a message of peace.

Mohamed also a surgeon,  also commended the NN for setting up a camp for them, saying that the turnout had been impressive.

NAN reports that the medical outreach took place at the Obisesan Naval Medical Centre, Apapa.

The Pakistani medical team comprises of nine doctors, five specialists, 54 general medical officers, 28 paramedics and five administrative staff.

NAN also reports that the Pakistani Navy berthed on  the shores of Nigeria on Dec. 5 on humanitarian purposes and strengthening of bilateral ties between Nigeria and Pakistan.
