Saudi Group 20 (G20) Presidency called on Saturday for collaborative global efforts to fight coronavirus (COVID-19).
The presidency said in a statement that the G20 and invited countries have pledged over 21 billion United States dollars to support funding in global health. The financial assistance will be dedicated to diagnostics, vaccines, therapeutics, and research.
The presidency stressed that the G20 has been leading the global response and international collaboration in the fight against the pandemic, including the decisions and recommendations made during the G20 leaders summit held in March.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Health Ministry announced on Saturday the registration of 3,121 new cases, increasing to accumulated infections to 98,869. The death toll rose to 676 cases with the reporting of 34 fatalities.
