Saudi-led coalition hits key rebel facilities in Yemen

According to the alliance, reported by Saudi state television al-Ekhbariya, Houthi military targets posing threats to regional and international security were destroyed.

“The facilities included arms and missile depots.

“The targets also included sites where foreign experts from terrorist organisations were present,” the alliance said without elaborating.

Earlier on Thursday, pro-Houthi television al-Masirah reported a series of airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition in several parts of the rebel-controlled Yemeni capital, Sana’a.

So far, no casualties have been reported.

On Wednesday, the alliance said that 26 people were injured when the Houthis attacked Abha airport in the south-western part of Saudi Arabia near the Yemeni border.

The alliance vowed a “firm” response to the attack.

The violence came amid escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran, a regional rival of Saudi Arabia.

The alliance has been fighting the Houthis in Yemen since March 2015.

In recent months, the Houthis have stepped up attacks with drones and missiles on Saudi cities, while the coalition launches strikes, which they say target rebel locations.
