Chief Whip of Osun House of Assembly, Mr Olatunji Babatunde, has urged traditional rulers and residents to support the state government and security agencies to combat security challenges in the state.

Olatunji, who represents Ife North constituency in the assembly on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), made the call in a statement on Friday in Osogbo.

He said that everyone in the state must unite in the fight against crime by providing useful information that would assist police in flushing criminals out of state.

“It is always very difficult, if not impossible, for planed criminality to pervade a particular community without sabotage of some unscrupulous elements, including silence of some citizens.

“I hereby appeal to traditional rulers, community leaders and all citizens to unite in the fight against crime and provide useful information when and where necessary,”Olatunji said.

He, however, decried the way and manner people were fuelling the security situation in the state out of proportion.

The lawmaker assured that the assembly would give accelerated passage to any bill concerning security of lives and property in the state.

“Although we have sufficient legislation that deals with security in the state of Osun, the assembly will expeditiously respond to any other material that can further enable government to provide secured and enabling environment in the state.”

Olatunji also commended Gov. Gboyega Oyetola for being proactive in addressing challenges, especially security threats, in the state.
