A Certified Project Manager, Mrs Busayo Adegoke, on Friday, urged entrepreneurs and prospective entrepreneurs to see their businesses or products as sustainable rather than mere hustling.

Adegoke, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Projectpreneur, said this at a training organised for entrepreneurs in Ibadan.

The Nigeria News Agency reports that the training is tagged: “Mastering the Game of Your Business”.

According to her, seeing products or businesses as hustling has its limiting factor.

“The hustling mindset should be eradicated; it is a trap. You should have an end goal projection in mind. The hustle bandwagon is a big setback,” she said.

She also emphasised the need to define the way goods or services were being sold or marketed.

“It is very important to conduct a thorough research before starting up a business.

“An entrepreneur must really know the business or craft he or she is establishing. You must be confident of what you are doing or intend to do.

“You must also check back on your customers who have engaged your services to find out if they actually got value for their money.

“Doing this will enable you evaluate yourself well, and such a satisfied customer will give you a referral,” she said.

Adegoke added that a person may contextualise an idea but may not be the one to execute it.

“Sometimes, amazing ideas come to our heads, but in reality, they can’t sell. Such ideas can be shared with persons we believe are knowledgeable and objective enough to advise us.

“You must have a reason for choosing your business. What is unique about your business? The truth is that people who complain about their businesses actually don’t know what they are doing.

“For me, business is passion-driven and not just for money-making,” she said.

Adegoke also urged entrepreneurs to make positive use of the social media, rather than wasting their data on frivolities.

“When you are certain of who your target audiences are, the social media will be very useful. The social media is a very good place to sell goods and services.

“When using the social media, always endeavour to put the remarks of past customers; this will convince the intending customers,” she said.

The project manager emphasised the need for entrepreneurs to cultivate the habit of saving money.

“I always say that money made monthly should be divided into three; one for saving, the second for yourself and the third for reinvesting into the business.

“The savings will come handy when there is a high increase in getting your goods,” she said.

Adegoke, however, urged entrepreneurs to stop offering services for free, saying “it doesn’t place value on you.”
