Sustainable Development: LG boss tasks Nigerians on peace, unity

Alhaji Abubakar Abbas, the Chairman, Wamba Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, has appealed to Nigerians to see themselves as one united family to sustain the peace, unity and development of the country.

He said this should be done irrespective of any religious, political or ethnic differences, stressing on the need for Nigerians to see themselves as an one united family.

Abubakar made the call when he received a delegation from Konvah community in his office in Wamba on Wednesday.

He said without peace and tolerance, Nigeria’s socio-economic development would continue to suffer major set back.

The chairman said that there was the need for Nigerians to continue to tolerate one another so as to move the country forward.

According to him, Nigerians are free to live in any part of the country; the nation belongs to all of us.

“As Nigerians, we must be our brother’s keeper, while striving continuously to remain patriotic.

“Nigeria has great potential, our diversity must be our source of strength; people must learn to tolerate and get along with one another.

“History has shown that countries that make progress are those that live in peace,” he said.

Abbas also appealed to communities in the area to always ensure peaceful coexistence among themselves to guarantee speedy development of the area

He also solicited for the cooperation and support of citizens in the area to enable his administration succeed

The Council boss explained that he alone cannot achieve much without the support and cooperation of the people.

Earlier, Councillor representing the area, Sanusi Umar-Aguri told the chairman that they were in his office to appreciate his effort in providing succour to victims of the recent flood disaster that washed away some bridges in the area.
